Grace Community School

Dear Prospective Candidate,

On behalf of the Junior High Principal Search Committee and the School Board, I want to thank you for your interest in Grace Community School.  We hope this opportunity profile will provide you a full understanding of the mission of Grace Community School, its culture, its role in Christian education, as well as the key qualities and characteristics we are seeking in its next junior high principal.

Grace Community School is a ministry of Grace Community Church in Tyler, Texas, located in the piney woods of East Texas. Grace is a non-denominational, ecumenical, coed day school of 1018 students in grades K4 through 12.  Its mission is to assist Christian parents in educating, equipping, and encouraging their children to influence the world for Christ.  The net result is the expectation that we offer the world biblically grounded men and women equipped to further God’s Kingdom where they work, live, and play.  Grace is a vibrant, healthy community of learning in every sense.  Grace is accredited through ACSI, and has recently been certified as among the top Christian schools in the country by the Council on Educational Standards and Accountability (CESA).

Grace Community Junior High School serves students in grades 6 though 8. Grace has experienced vigorous growth throughout the past several years, much of it in the junior high. The current junior high enrollment is 255, with a faculty of 20. An assistant principal works with the principal to handle classroom management issues, student activities, and scheduling. Plans are in the works for a new junior high building in the next three to five years.

In support of its mission, GCS has designed a course of instruction that is very intentionally biblically integrated in content, methods, and documentation, and of which a curricular emphasis on redemptive discipline and Christ-honoring athletics and fine arts are integral parts. Grace is happily a hybrid of appropriate elements of traditional, classical, and Charlotte Mason models where each is most appropriate and effective.

We encourage you to read through this opportunity profile and to further explore the Grace Community School website.  If after prayerfully reading the profile you sense your gifts and experience would make you a candidate, then please send us your resume using the “contact us” information tab.  If you have any questions, please contact me at jferguson@gracetyler.org.

Thank you for your interest in Grace Community School.

In Christ,

Jay Ferguson
Headmaster, Grace Community School
