GCS Pom Squad
GCS Pom Squad
Rebecca and her husband, Joshua, who is the Assistant Principal at Grace high school, have been part of the Grace family since 2004. They have four children enrolled at GCS on all three campuses. She has worked as an Administrative Assistant at the Middle School since 2017.
Throughout high school, she cheered on a nationally-competitive squad. She was a two-time UCA All American, which is an honor given to select individuals who have exemplified showmanship, poise, technique, or crowdleading skills. Because of this honor, she was selected to cheer in the London’s New Year’s Day parade and the Thanksgiving Day Parade in Houston. During her junior year, her squad was selected by UCA to perform in an exhibition in Japan. After high school, she cheered at Louisiana Tech University.
She was an assistant coach for Pop Warner Youth cheer and also was an assistant coach for a 5A high school squad. During this time, she gained valuable experience developing choreography in cheer routines and trained the squad in jumps, motions, cheers, and dance. She also developed routines for competition, taught partner stunts, group stunts, and pyramids and implemented strength and cardiovascular conditioning.
Rebecca believes Pom Squad will serve as a time of learning, conditioning, and improving specific skills in order to try out for mascot, cheer, or drill team in the spring of their freshman year. She hopes to create a positive community for the members of the Pom Squad, who are leaders and representatives of Grace Community School.
