Cougars End 2023 on a High Note

The Cougars ended the year on a high note winning 9 of their last 11 games in 2023.  They opened their district schedule with an 81-61 win over Brighter Horizons.  Peyton Kelly led a balanced scoring attack with 18 points.  Also in double figures for the Cougars were Daniel Shankle (14), Doak Porter (12), Wilson Smith (12), and Caden Swaim (12).

We finished the year by going 3-0 in the Wagstaff Classic at Tyler Junior College.  The Cougars beat Brownsboro 54-46 in the opening game of the Classic.  Peyton Kelly and Daniel Shankle again led the team in scoring as the Cougars overcame a second-half deficit to secure the win.  Next came a 69-41 victory over Cumberland Academy.  Doak Porter had 17 points to lead our team.  We had 9 players score in the game and everyone contributed to the win.  In the last game of the Classic, we secured a 55-34 victory over Bishop Gorman.  Wilson Smith had 12 points and 19 rebounds to lead the Cougars to a spirited win.

We jump back into district action this week with a home game on Tuesday against Bishop Dunne.  The JV White will play at 4:30, JV Blue at 5:45, and varsity at 7:00.  We will close the week by traveling to Flower Mound to play Coram Deo in a district game.  The JV Blue will play at 4:30 and varsity at 7:30.  We hope everyone will come out and support the Cougars on their quest for a district championship.  We want to have a huge home-court advantage at all our games.
