Elementary Arts

The directors of our Fine Arts programs have committed themselves to leading their programs through a Christian example. In every case, it is their desire for their groups to glorify God.

ART

The art curriculum in Kindergarten through 4th grades offers students a variety of creative activities using different materials and mediums. Students can be found creating with clay, paint, 3-D elements, and more. We look at the Masters for appreciation, learn art history and incorporate the elements of art and more principles of design to offer our young artiest a toolbox to use when observing and creating art. We strive to encourage every student to find their artistic talent and to give honor and glory to God for the creativity with which He has blessed them.

MUSIC

First and foremost, we want to make Christ the center of our worship time during music class. Students in Junior Kindergarten through 4th grades enjoy a weekly music class. The youngest students begin to learn about composers, play instruments, clap on a steady beat, sing songs, and move to the music. As they progress through their elementary years, students learn music notation and terminology, how to read rhythms, and how to play patterns on a steady beat while others play a different pattern. Continued development of singing voices, solfege training, playing percussion instruments including recorders and ukuleles, learning the lines and spaces of the Treble Clef, and learning instrument families are the voices of the middle and older elementary grades.
