8th Grade Girls Rally Late to Edge All Saints, Split at Union Grove

December 15, 2025 – The Lady Cougars opened the week with a dramatic 29-27 win against crosstown rival All Saints, erasing a six-point deficit in the final minute.
Livi Fleet sparked the comeback by hitting two free throws to cut the lead to four, then followed with a jump shot off an assist from Pippa Burton. After the Cougars regained possession while trailing by two, they earned a trip to the free-throw line with a chance to tie. Kaizlyen Kincade grabbed the rebound on a missed free throw, and the ball found Burton, who knocked down the go-ahead basket.
The Cougars held on defensively and turned away a last-second attempt by All Saints to secure the win.
On Saturday, the Lady Cougars traveled to Union Grove for a round-robin tournament with Troup and the host school. The Cougars defeated Troup 26-20, with Burton leading all scorers with 10 points. Nya Robinson added four points, including two key free throws late to seal the victory.
In the second game, the Cougars fell to Union Grove 24-12. Robinson led the team with eight points.
The Lady Cougars return to action Thursday when they host Troup at 7 p.m.
