Grace Volleyball Team Builds Faith and Friendship at USA Match

The Grace Community School volleyball team recently took a break from their summer training grind to attend a high-energy match between Team USA and the Dominican Republic — and it turned out to be much more than just a night of great volleyball.

For these student-athletes, watching some of the best players in the world was inspiring — but doing it together as a team made it unforgettable. From cheering in the stands to laughing on the bus ride home, the girls strengthened the kind of bonds that make a real difference on and off the court.

Brooklyn Gautier said, “Going to watch the game with the team gave everyone a chance to see everyone in a different light. In volleyball practice, some people tend to become more reserved or introverted but at the game, everyone loosened up and we all had a really great time! It was also fun watching the sport we all love and bonding over it. I am so grateful for this experience and this team!”

This summer, the Lady Cougars have been hard at work — committing to early mornings, tough practices, and time in the weight room. But what sets this team apart isn’t just their hustle or skill — it’s their heart. At Grace, volleyball is about more than wins and stats. It’s about honoring God with their gifts, growing in character, and supporting each other like a true Christ-centered team.

Moments like this outing are a vital part of that journey. Watching elite athletes play together with passion and trust reminded the girls that great teams don’t just happen — they’re built on selflessness, unity, and shared purpose.

Coach Zavala saw the match as more than just a fun night out — she saw it as a way to build community and refocus the team on the bigger picture.

“Seeing their excitement and love for the game flourish during this team bonding experience was more than I could have hoped for. This trip not only bonded us as a team but reignited their passion for the game.”

With the season starting, the Grace volleyball team is not only excited — they’re ready. Ready to compete, to grow, and to play for something greater than themselves.

Macy Loftis said, “Watching the USA Olympic team was a really cool experience. I’m inspired by their effort and dedication to volleyball and how they work together so well.”

As the Lady Cougars prepare to step onto the court this fall, they do so as one — a team that trains hard, loves each other well, and keeps Christ at the center of it all.
