Fast Start: Grace JH XC Teams Set the Pace at Season Opener

August 25, 2025 – The Junior High cross country team opened their season this weekend at the Legacy Invitational, competing against a large and talented field. Despite tough heat and strong competition, both squads rose to the challenge with impressive performances. The girls finished 5th overall out of 17 teams, while the boys earned 8th place out of 20, an excellent showing to start the season!
Leading the way were Lydia Martinez (13th overall) and Isaac Jenks (6th overall), both finishing in the top ten percent of their races. Strong scoring performances followed from Hannah Jenks, Elizabeth Russell, Riley Morgan, and Josie Jenz for the girls, and Joshua Wright, Ben Castle, Chris Allgaier, and Jackson Dison for the boys. Nearly every runner improved from their time trial two weeks ago, with several setting major personal records, most notably Jackson Bonneville (–3:33) and Claire Weimer (–3:35).
It was a tremendous team effort, and the grit and progress shown this weekend set a strong foundation for the rest of the season!
