Grace 7th and 8th Grade Girls Hit the Basketball Court for Promising Season Start

November 17, 2025 – The Junior High Lady Cougars have tipped off the 2025–2026 basketball season with determination and promising play across both the 7th and 8th grade teams.
The 8th Grade Lady Cougars opened their season against a strong Longview Christian Heritage squad, falling 43–13 but showing bright individual performances. Nya Robinson led the scoring with 6 points, followed by Pippa Burton with 4 and Riley Morgan with 3. Defensively, Kaizlyen Kincade and Claire Weimer stood out—Kincade held Christian Heritage’s top scorer to just 2 points, while Weimer recorded multiple steals, deflections, and rebounds.
In their second outing, the 8th graders showed significant improvement in a competitive 34–24 battle with Pine Tree. Burton paced the offense with 10 points, while Nora Myrick battled against Pine Tree’s size and contributed 8 points alongside tough defensive play. The team’s growth from game one to game two has laid a strong foundation for the season ahead.
Meanwhile, the 7th Grade Lady Cougars opened their season with an impressive 37–10 victory over Pine Tree Junior High. The team showed exceptional hustle and teamwork, with nearly every player scoring. Ellie Gillen led the way with 9 points, followed closely by Rylee Hamer with 8. Stella Ramirez added 6, Emma Hird chipped in 4, and five players – Hannah Jenks, Elizabeth Russell, Claire Foreman, Cora Putnam, and Annakate Negem – each contributed 2 points. With a balanced offensive effort and strong attitudes on the court, the 7th graders set a positive tone for their season.
Both teams now prepare for a full week of action. The 8th Grade Lady Cougars will host Kings Academy on November 17 at 5:30 p.m., followed by a road matchup at Longview Christian on November 20 at 5:30 p.m. They will close the week competing in the Brownsboro Tournament, opening against the host team at 9:00 a.m.
The 7th Grade Lady Cougars also face a packed schedule, playing at All Saints on Monday at 5:00 p.m., at Longview Christian on Thursday at 4:30 p.m., and finishing the week in the Brownsboro Tournament on Saturday.
