Cougars Open District Play, Prepare to Bounce Back at Home

January 12, 2025 – The Grace Community School varsity men’s soccer team opened district play last week under challenging conditions, as weather delays ultimately ended the match with 10:44 remaining.
Facing a strong Cristo Rey squad, the Cougars battled throughout the contest but came up short in a 2–0 loss. Despite the result, Grace showed resilience and effort on both ends of the field. The Cougars now stand at 4–4 overall and 0–1 in district play.
Senior captain Elijah Hicks delivered a standout performance in goal, earning MVP honors after making several crucial saves that kept the Cougars within striking distance. Senior captains Logan Trump and Brock Sieber were recognized as Unsung Heroes for their leadership and steady play, while Nemo Valdez earned the Coaches’ Choice award.
With district play just getting underway, the Cougars are focused on rebounding this week. Grace will host Brighter Horizons on Monday, January 12, at 6:00 p.m., before traveling to The Brook Hill School on Friday, January 16, for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff.
Fans are encouraged to come out and support the Cougars as the team looks to build momentum in district competition.
