Varsity Boys Soccer Battles Through Tough District Stretch

January 19, 2025 – The Grace Cougars faced another challenging week of district play, taking on two strong opponents in Brighter Horizons and Brook Hill. With the competition getting tougher each game, the Cougars put forth good effort but came up short.
First Grace went toe-to-toe with Brighter Horizons in a hard-fought match. The Cougars stayed competitive throughout but ultimately came up just short in a 3-2 loss. Notable performances were made by Sr. Captain Midfielder Logan Trump and Junior Defender Dylan Small, Junior Defender Logan Levels and Freshman Goalkeeper Hutch Osteen.
Later in the week, Grace took on a talented Brook Hill team. Despite a strong effort and continued fight on the field, the Guard capitalized on their chances, handing the Cougars a 6–1 loss. Notable performances were made by Sophomore Midfielder Nemo Valdez scoring the Cougar’s only goal and Senior Captain Goalkeeper Elijah Hicks with 13 saves. Other notable performances were made by Juniors Josiah King and Logan Levels, Senior Captain Defender Brock Sieber, Sophomore Defender Isaac Lee and Senior Captain Midfielder Logan Trump.
District play is never easy, and this week was a reminder of how competitive the schedule is, but the Cougars will continue pressing on! This week the team travels to Austin on Friday to take on Hyde Park with kickoff at 7:00 p.m.
On a more positive note, the guys enjoyed an awesome time of team fellowship with a fun get-together this weekend filled with great food, games and lots of conversation. It was the perfect chance to relax, laugh and build relationships off the field. Thanks to the Santini family for opening their home!
