Cougar Track Teams Open Season with Strong Showing at Sabine Relays

February 23, 2026 – The Cougar track teams competed in a unique relay-format meet last week, where all running events were relays. The meet also included shot put and discus to open the field events portion of the season. The format provided an energetic and competitive start to the year.

For the Lady Cougars, the 4×800-meter relay team of Emma Goetz, M.J. Hanson, Aragon Tanner and Cora Castle captured a gold medal. Goetz and Hanson teamed with Dani Bryan and Casey Goetz to earn another gold in the distance medley relay. The 4×400-meter relay team of Addison Matthews, Emma Goetz, Aragon Tanner and Casey Goetz secured silver, while Sadie Arriola earned bronze in the shot put.

On the boys side, Bradon Alexander won gold in the shot put, and Christian Henry claimed gold in the discus. The 4×800-meter relay team of Roe Gaddis, Dylan Small, Ayden Serrato and Asher Wycliffe earned gold, as did the distance medley relay team of Wyatt Grimes, Truett Roseman, Clive Johnson and Clayton Bock.

The JV 4×100-meter relay team of Roman Hanson, Bowen Jenkins, Ryan Lucas and Bruhn Henry captured silver. Bronze medals went to the 4×200-meter relay team of Parker Patterson, Bruhn Henry, Justus McQuay and Elijah Hicks, as well as Luke Anderson in the shot put.

The Cougars will return to action Thursday, Feb. 26, at Arp High School as they continue the early portion of the track and field season.
