Cougar Track Sends Multiple Athletes to State After Regional Meet

May 4, 2026 – The Lady Cougars and Varsity Cougars competed Wednesday at the regional track meet and turned in strong performances, as both teams finished third overall in the TAPPS 5A division.
Grace athletes earned multiple medals and state-qualifying finishes. Gold, silver and bronze medal winners automatically qualified for the state meet.
For the Lady Cougars, Emma Goetz won gold in the 3,200-meter run and added a silver medal in the 1,600-meter run. Paige Gilmore earned gold in the high jump, while Addie Matthews won silver in the long jump. Elizabeth Rath captured bronze in the pole vault, and Addison Eli earned bronze in the 400-meter dash.
Additional state qualifiers for the Lady Cougars included Sadie Arriola in the shot put and discus, Trinity Schulz in the pole vault, and Casey Goetz in the 800-meter and 1,600-meter runs.
On the boys side, Christian Henry earned a silver medal in the discus. Bronze medals were won by B.J. Olusola in the high jump and 110-meter hurdles, Clayton Bock in the 800-meter run, and the 4×200-meter relay team of Henry, Cole Stanley, Justus McQuay and Elijah Hicks.
Other Cougar state qualifiers included the 4×400-meter relay team of Coleman Swaim, Roe Gaddis, Olusola and Bock, the 4×100-meter relay team of Henry, Stanley, McQuay and Hicks, and Ayle Hecht in the pole vault.
Grace will compete next at the TAPPS 5A State Track Meet at Waco Midway High School. Field events and the 3,200-meter run will take place Friday, May 8, with all other running events scheduled for Saturday, May 9.
