Cougar Track Earns Multiple State Titles, Top-10 Team Finishes

May 11, 2026 – The Lady Cougars and Cougars competed Friday and Saturday at the TAPPS 5A State Track Meet at Waco Midway High School, closing the season with strong performances and multiple medal finishes.

The Lady Cougars finished sixth overall, while the Cougars placed seventh in the team standings.

Emma Goetz led the Lady Cougars with two state championships, winning gold in both the 3,200-meter run and the 1,600-meter run. Paige Gilmore also earned a state title, winning gold in the high jump. Addison Eli added a bronze medal finish in the 400-meter dash.

Grace also scored points in several additional events, including Sadie Arriola in the shot put and discus, Addie Matthews in the long jump, Casey Goetz in the 800-meter and 1,600-meter runs, and Elizabeth Rath and Trinity Schulz in the pole vault.

For the Cougars, Christian Henry earned a silver medal in the discus, and B.J. Olusola brought home a bronze medal in the 110-meter hurdles. Additional points were scored by Clayton Bock in the 800-meter run, Olusola in the high jump, and Ayle Hecht in the pole vault.

Grace also scored in all three relay events, including the 4×100-meter and 4×200-meter relay teams of Elijah Hicks, Cole Stanley, Justus McQuay and Henry, along with the 4×400-meter relay team of Coleman Swaim, Roe Gaddis, Olusola and Bock.

Grace concluded the season as district champions, third-place regional finishers, and top-10 finishers at the state meet.
