Grace Cross Country Opens Season at Hudson Relays

August 17, 2026 – Grace Cross Country performed well Friday at the Hudson Friday Night Lights XC Relays. The unique meet gave athletes the chance to begin the season by pairing with a partner and alternating miles, with each athlete completing two total miles.

Both the boys and girls teams competed well, with every duo improving on last year’s times. Emma Goetz and Sadie Velton led the way for the girls, placing in the top five overall and earning medals.

The team will continue training this week in preparation for its season opener at the Tyler Legacy XC Invitational at Lindsey Park.

Saturday’s schedule:

• 7 a.m. – Varsity girls 5K: Goetz will compete as she looks to defend her title from last year.
• Varsity boys 1-4A 5K: The boys team will take the course.
• Varsity girls 2-mile: The remaining high school girls will compete, with the team entering the race as defending champions.
