JH Cross Country Girls Win Team Title at Hallsville Invitational

September 21, 2026 – Grace Junior High cross country competed at the Hallsville Invitational on Saturday, with the girls team bringing home the team title, finishing first out of 13 teams.

Hannah Jenks led the way with a sixth-place overall finish, and all of Grace’s scoring runners finished in the top 40 out of 125 competitors. The scoring team consisted of Jenks, Reagan Cannon, Ellie Gillen, Cambrie Socia, Anna Martinez and Ava Weimer.

The boys team also had a strong day, finishing seventh out of 15 teams. Eight Grace runners set personal records, and those who didn’t finished within 10 seconds of their best. Wesley Wiener stood out with a 12th-place overall finish, improving his personal record by more than a minute. Ben Castle finished 18th out of 140 runners, Levi Wylie improved his personal best by 40 seconds, and Grant Weiner shaved 1 minute, 40 seconds off his previous best.

The Cougars will have this week off from competition as they prepare for the East Texas Private Middle School State Championship on Oct. 3.
