Cougarettes Drill Team Director
Renee’ works at Dance-N-Drill studio where she is the Director of the Dance-N-Drill Dancers, Jr.Jazz Team, Youth, Jr. and Sr.Contemporary Teams and Jr. and Sr. “Extreme” Hip Hop Teams, Assistant Director for the “Tyler Golden Girls” as well as Head Coach for the D-N-D “Flyers” All-Star Cheer Teams. She is a professional private/public choreographer, qualified judge for dance and cheer competitions and auditions. Former choreographer for the University of Texas at Tyler Patriot Singers. Marching Auxiliaries Best Choreographer Award in contemporary, modern, hip hop, high kick, prop and character. Certified USASF Cheerleading Coach in training, safety, and stunting. CPR/AED Certified by the American Red Cross. Choreographer for the 1997 Pollen Weed Eater Independence Bowl Pre-Game Show. Former Tyler Junior College Apache Belle (Traveled and performed in Nice, France) (1989-1991). Former Director/Choreographer for the Continental Basketball Association Shreveport Crawdad Cheerleaders (1993-1995). Former Owner of “Center Stage Dance Company” and Director of the nationally ranked “Red River Southern Belles” in Shreveport, LA. Former Director/Choreographer for the Louisiana State University at Shreveport Dance Team (1994- 1996). Former Robert E. Lee Southern Belle (1987-1989), Officer (1988-1989). Former Dance-N-Drill Dancer (Traveled and performed at the Festival of Lights in Montreaux, Switzerland) (1986-1989). Former “Tyler Golden Girl” at Dance-N-Drill Studio (1983-1985), Captain (1984-1985). Renee’ has been married 28 years to her husband Jack and they live in Whitehouse, Texas. They have a 21-year-old son, Jackson, who attends Northwestern State University majoring in History and Foreign Languages/Foreign Affairs who will graduate in May 2019. The Allen’s attend the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception church in Tyler.
Cougarette & Pom Squad Assistant Director
Melissa was raised in a small town Northeast of Dallas and grew up as a studio-trained dancer from a young age. Beginning in middle school, she discovered her passion for drill team and participated throughout high school. She was honored to be selected as 1st Lieutenant her Junior year and Head Dance Captain her Senior year. She then auditioned for the Tyler Junior College Apache Belles and was thrilled to continue to her love of dance at the collegiate level for two years. As an Apache Belle, Melissa traveled to Dublin, Ireland and performed in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Lord Mayor’s Ball. Other performance credits include Dallas Cowboys pre-games and halftimes, a feature on Country Eight Reporter, Tyler Rose Parade and Bank of America Thanksgiving Day Parades and Disney World. Melissa also served as Chaplain her Sophomore year of Apache Belles. Throughout her dance career, she consistently received both personal and team top honors, awards and scholarships throughout camps, competitions and conventions.
Following TJC, Melissa attended and graduated from Baylor University in Waco, Texas with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Public Relations. She has continued to stay actively involved in the Apache Belle alumni organization as well as local fitness and dance organizations wherever she has lived. As a coach and mentor, she places high value on poise, discipline, precision and teamwork and is excited for the opportunity to share her passion by assisting with both the Cougarettes and Pom Squad this year.
Melissa met her husband, James, while at TJC and following graduation from Baylor they married and then lived in Houston and Dallas for 10 years before returning to East Texas in 2013. Melissa and James have been married for 17 years and have 9-year-old twin girls, Caroline and Natalie, who are students of Grace Community School. The Foxes are active members of First Baptist Church, Tyler.
