Cougar Baseball Opens District Play with Two Wins Over Bishop Dunne

March 16, 2026 – The Grace varsity baseball team opened district play in impressive fashion over spring break, earning two wins against Bishop Dunne.
The Cougars claimed a 10-3 victory Tuesday night behind a strong performance on the mound from Noah Bigbie. Bigbie pitched five innings, allowing just three hits while striking out seven and not surrendering a run. Grace’s offense backed him up with timely hitting to secure the opening district win.
Friday’s matchup followed a similar script as the Cougars once again controlled the game from the start. Grace jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning behind singles from Slade Etheredge and Wyatt Buchanan before Bigbie added a double to left field to drive in a run.
Etheredge got the start on the mound and delivered a dominant outing, pitching six innings while allowing only two hits. He struck out 13 batters and did not allow a run.
Buchanan led the Cougars offensively during the two-game stretch with three hits and reached base seven times during the week. Grace secured the second victory with an 8-3 final score.
The Cougars will return to action Monday afternoon against Slocum before traveling to Austin Regents on Friday for a crucial district doubleheader.
