Cougar Baseball Stays Hot, Improves to 2-0 on the Week

February 23, 2026 – The Grace varsity baseball team delivered a strong week of play, earning back-to-back victories over Winona and Cumberland to finish 2-0.

On Tuesday, the Cougars overwhelmed Winona in a 17-0 mercy-rule victory. Emmanuel Sanchez was outstanding on the mound, tossing a complete-game shutout to secure the win. Grace’s offense set the tone early and never let up, combining timely hitting with aggressive base running to seal the decisive victory.

The Cougars followed up Friday with a 4-2 win over Cumberland in a more tightly contested matchup. Noah Bigbie earned the win, pitching three innings while allowing two runs on three hits and striking out three. Slade Etheredge was dominant in relief, throwing four shutout innings without allowing a hit and striking out six to record the save.

Offensively, David Wallace led the charge with an exceptional week at the plate, going 4-for-5 with two singles and two doubles. He added two walks, was hit by a pitch once, scored four runs, and stole four bases.

Etheredge also made a major impact offensively, going 3-for-5 with a double, triple, and home run. He drove in five runs, scored four times, drew three walks, and was hit by two pitches.

With strong pitching performances and explosive offensive production, the Cougars continue to build momentum as the season progresses.
