Cougar Boys Golf Opens Spring with Strong Finishes, Tournament Win

February 28, 2026 – The Grace varsity boys golf team has started the spring season in impressive fashion, turning in strong team performances and capturing an individual tournament title over the past two weeks.

On February 16, the Cougars opened their spring schedule at Cherokee Ranch Golf Course in Jacksonville. Competing against a strong field of 15 teams, Grace earned a second-place team finish. Reid Habermehl led the way, earning fifth-place medalist honors with a score of 73.

Mac Pillsbury followed with a 77, while David Wallace shot 84, Jay Pillsbury added an 85, and Lincoln Estes rounded out the scoring with a 107. The strong showing set the tone for the season ahead.

The following week, on February 23, the Cougars traveled to Sulphur Springs to compete in the Regional Preview Golf Tournament — and delivered another standout performance. Habermehl captured first-place medalist honors with an outstanding 4-under-par 68 to win the tournament.

Mac Pillsbury continued his steady play with an impressive 75, and Jay Pillsbury carded a 78 to contribute to another strong overall team effort.
