Cougars Begin Season on Positive Note

Last week the Cougars started their tournament season by competing in two UIL tournaments. The first event was played in Longview in which all 16 players had first rounds wins! Clark Carter had a big win over the number #1 seed but fell short to the eventual champion in the quarterfinals. Caden Mischon and Kinley Rohrbach also had a great tournament making it to the consolation finals. The team’s highest result came from boys doubles team Aslan Morales and Colson Tschirhart who placed 4th after losing a close 9-7 match against Spring Hill in the 3rd place match. Following Longview, the team played in the largest area varsity tournament, the Tim King Memorial hosted by Tyler Legacy. This tournament had 32 schools from around the state and over 400 players! The level of play was top notch and our kids posted some great wins! Special shout out to boys doubles team Haden Flowers and Aslan Morales for winning the consolation draw and bringing home the teams first medals of the 2023 season! This week the team will compete in two local tournaments both hosted by Tyler High School. JV plays on Wednesday and Varsity will play on Friday. Let’s go Cougars!
