Cougars Break Records at TISCA Invitational

On Friday and Saturday (Nov. 18-19), the Grace Cougar swimmers traveled to Texarkana to compete in the Texas Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association (TISCA) Invitational.  Some of the top 4A, 5A and 6A public schools from the Houston and Dallas areas and East Texas were there to compete.  Grace was the only private school in attendance.  With only 7 girls, the Cougar women were able to take 5th place. The girls also broke 2 relay records; the 200 Medley Relay and the 400 yard Freestyle Relay.  They broke their own 200 Medley Relay  time, by 2 seconds, that was just set at the state competition in February.  The 400 Freestyle record was a 22 year old record, (set in 2000).  The Cougar women obliterated that record by over 6 seconds.  Grace swimmers had 5 trips to the podium on Saturday.  Seniors Blakely Roseberry and Michael Green each had 2 trips.  Blakely received a Gold in the 100 Freestyle and Silver in the 200 Individual Medley.  Michael received a Silver in the 50 yard Freestyle and a Bronze in the 100 Breaststroke.  Sophomore Jennifer Montier stood on the podium to receive her 3rd place medal in the 100 Butterfly.  There were lots of best times achieved and many personal goals were meet at this meet.  The swimmers next meet will be the Whitehouse Relays on December 9th at East Texas Aquatics.
