Cougars Crush Eagles
What do you get when you cross big hits, lights being knocked out, and lots of high pitched screaming? If you said, “Me fighting Mike Tyson”—you would be right! But you might also be talking about Grace football’s game last Friday night against Frisco Legacy. The Cougars walked into Legacy’s homecoming excitement and were thoroughly dominant, especially in the 3rd quarter, to route the Eagles, 55-10.
The offense had several players who had big games for the Cougars. JT Williams was the shining light, accounting for 300 yards (222 passing, 77 rushing) and 5 TD’s (3 passing, 2 rushing)! Reed Alexander blazed a trail as well with 213 yards receiving and 2 TD’s. Grant Turner had 125 yards rushing and 2 TD’s. Jamarion Johnson added another TD.
The defense also relied on a lot of players to contribute to shutting down the Eagles. Simeon Garner led the defensive line in tackles. Turner Thomas forced a fumble. Cole Edens, Lawson Livingston, and Blake Harmon all were key in making tackles. There were even big plays made by the young Cougars, namely Konnor McCoy, who had a pass deflection and a huge open field tackle. All these players (and more!) shut down Legacy in the second half.
The Cougars head into the last week of District play with a massive home game against Bishop Dunne on Friday night. They will hope to use the Homecoming crowd to give them the boost they will need to beat the Falcons. We hope you will make plans to add your voice and help lift the Cougars to a win! Kickoff will be at 7:30 pm at Clyde-Perkins Stadium.
