Cougars End Successful Season

The Cougars ended their successful season with a close loss to Liberty Christian in the Bi-District playoffs by the score of 62-68. The Cougars won 3 of the 4 quarters but could not overcome their slow start in this highly competitive contest. Seniors Kole Crawford (15 points), Darius Shankle (10 points),Cade Covington (9 points), and Will Bozeman (8 points) led the Cougars in scoring. Covington, Reed Alexander, Peyton Kelly, Daniel Shankle, and Wilson Smith did an excellent job on defense for the Cougars.  

The 2022-2023 Cougars will be remembered for laying a solid foundation for our programs future success. Led by seniors Reed Alexander, Will Bozeman, Cade Covington, Kole Crawford, Drew Gaddis, Grayson Gaddis, and Darius Shankle the Cougars accomplished some great things this season including;

  • Winning the championship at the New Summerfield Tournament
  • Finishing a runner-ups at the Shelton Tournament
  • Winning the consolation championship at the Frankston Tournament
  • Going 2-0 at the Wagstaff Holiday Classic 
  • Finishing 7-5 and tying for 3rd place in district
  • Averaged 64 points per game while allowing 48.3 points per game
  • Going 24-13 on the season (with 3 wins over ranked teams)

Though we will miss our seniors, the future is extremely bright for Cougars Basketball. We look forward to building on the momentum created this season and expect bigger and better things in the future. IT’S A GREAT TIME TO BE A COUGAR!
