Cougars Outlast East Texas Chargers 17-13 in Extra-Inning Shootout

April 6, 2026 – The Grace Cougars earned a thrilling 17-13 extra-inning victory over the East Texas Chargers, using timely hitting and late-game resilience to secure the win in eight innings.

Noah Bigbie pitched two strong innings in relief to earn the win on the mound, helping the Cougars close out the high-scoring contest.

Grace’s offense produced 11 hits and continued to apply pressure throughout the lineup. Slade Etheredge turned in a strong all-around performance, finishing 2-for-4 with a walk, a double, two stolen bases and two RBIs.

Wyatt Buchanan was a steady presence on the basepaths, reaching safely four times and scoring four runs. Caleb Burgess led the Cougars offensively with a four-hit night.

Grace will look to carry the momentum into a district matchup against Brook Hill on Tuesday at 6 p.m. The Cougars will then face Brentwood Christian on Friday in a doubleheader scheduled for 1 and 4 p.m. as part of Elementary Night.
