Cougars Pound Lone Oak

The Grace Cougar football team came into last Friday’s game as the heavy favorite, just needing to dot their “I’s” and cross their “T’s” to win their 4th game in a row.  And that is exactly what they did!  The offense scored early and often, and the defense was as stifling as a Texas summer, severely limiting the Lone Oak offense and forcing 5 turnovers on the night. The final score was 56-21.

Leading the way for the Cougars on offense was Jamarion Johnson, with 183 total yards and 2TD’s, and Grace Turner, who had 139 yards and a TD of his own.  JT Williams was 10 for 13 for 221 yards and 2 TD’s, and he also rushed for 56 yards and 2 TD’s of his own.  Reed Alexander had 2 TD’s and McCade Stinson scored his first Varsity TD for Grace.

It was a full team effort on defense, as every player who suits up for the Cougars was able to get into the game.  The defense was led by Blake Harmon, Nic Boone, and Lawson Livingston, who was the leading tackler.  Dylan Taylor, Jeff Torres, and Turner Thomas all had interceptions, and Seth Wilson and Casey Stover had fumble recoveries.

Grace has a huge game on Friday night against Spring Hill at Clyde-Perkins Stadium.  The Cougars look to stay undefeated as they finish up Non-District play, but will have to be good in all areas to pull out a win against the Panthers.  Kickoff will be at 7:30 pm.  We hope to see you there!
