Cougars Pull Away in 4th to Beat Coram Deo

The Grace football team looked to right the ship and get their first District win last Friday against Coram Deo Academy.  It was an incredibly tight game, with both teams fighting right to the end to get the win.  Ultimately, the Cougars would do just enough, especially in the final moments, and sailed away with the win, 53-37.

It was “all hands on deck” for the defense to stop Coram Deo’s high-flying offense, and several Cougars could have walked away with interceptions.  JT Williams was able to land a 4th quarter pick-six that increased Grace’s lead.  Blake Harmon led the team in tackles and kicked a 36-yard field goal.  And in the 4th quarter, Grant Faulkner caused a fumble that Dylan Taylor recovered to seal the win for the Cougars.

There were several key contributors to keeping the wind in the sails for the offense.  Jamarion Johnson had a stellar night, accounting by himself for almost 300 yards of offense and 3 TD’s.  Grant Turner showcased his speed and quickness with a 96-yard TD catch and run.  Reed Alexander and TreVon Bowie also added TD’s.

The Cougars have another massive District game Friday as they travel to Frisco to take on Legacy Christian.  Grace can take a big step to help their playoff outlook with a win against the Eagles.  Kickoff will be at 7:30 pm.  We would love to see you there!
