Cougars Soccer Defeats Bishop Dunne


Last week was the first of two away district games for the boys soccer team. On Monday 1/9, the Cougars lost a hard fought contest against Cristo Rey with a 0-2 result. 

On Thursday 1/12, the Cougars bounced back with a 4-3 penalty kicks win and they stand at 1-1 district record. 

Versus Cristo Rey, Senior captain goalkeeper Austin Hudgins made 13 saves. Some defensive lapses allowed the two goals that were scored on the Cougars. Notable performances went to Senior captain defender Michael Green, Junior midfielder Daniel Kucheruk, and freshman midfielder Logan Trump.

Versus Bishop Dunne the Cougars won on penalty kicks 4-3. The game ended in a 1-1 tie. The only tying goal of regulation was scored by Junior defender Cole Edens off a free kick assist from Senior captain Caleb Carmack. In penalty kicks, Senior captain goalkeeper Austin Hudgins came big with two stops. Scoring their penalty kick shots were Austin Hudgins, Senior defender Michael Green, Junior midfielder Daniel Kucheruk, and for the win, Sophomore midfielder Carter Eitel scored the winning goal. Notable performances went to Freshman defender Logan Trump, Freshman defender Brock Sieber, and Sophomore defender Nic Boone.

District games this week are away at Brighter Horizon on Tuesday 1/17, 7pm kickoff and at home on Friday 1/20 versus Frisco Legacy at 7pm.
