Cougars Went 2-1 in the Hawkins Tournament
Over the holidays the Lady Cougars went 2-1 in the Hawkins tournament, to win the consolation. The team’s only loss was to Lindale the eventual tournament champion 56-38. Hannah Stout led the team with 15 points. After a slow start, the Cougars pulled away from Linden-Kildare in their second game winning by a score of 55-38. Paige Gilmore, Hannah Stout, and Harper Auringer all scored in double figures while Kat Neal and Olivia Clark both had 8. The team finished day three with a 45-40 win over Spring Hill to win the consolation. Scorers in this game were as follows: Clark 1, Stout 11, Gilmore 12, Lucy Loftis 4, Auringer 2, Macie Mathis 6, Macy Loftis 5, Neal 4. Friday night the Cougars beat Frisco Legacy 53-42, moving to 2-0 in district play. The Cougars jumped out to an early 13-2 lead but the LCA evened the score in the third quarter. The Lady Cougars would get some key baskets in transition to pull away in the fourth quarter. Paige Gilmore scored 26 points to go with 10 rebounds and 6 steals. Hannah Stout scored 22 and had 4 steals. Harper Auringer added 5 points and 5 rebounds. Macie Mathis had 4 rebounds and 3 assists. The team had great defensive effort and hustle plays from the rest of the Cougar squad. This week the Cougars travel to Coram Deo on Friday night.
