Cougars Win District Opener on Buzzer-Beater, Look Ahead to Big Home Game

January 5, 2026 – The Grace Community School varsity boys basketball team opened district play in dramatic fashion on Saturday, earning a road victory on a last-second buzzer-beater by Coleman Swaim.
The thrilling win added to an already impressive season for the Cougars, who hold a 17–6 overall record and are currently ranked eighth in the state. Grace has continued to establish itself as a top contender with strong play on both ends of the floor.
Over the holiday break, the Cougars competed in the Wagstaff Classic, where they picked up a win against All Saints before falling to TK Gorman in a hard-fought matchup.
Grace will return home this Friday for its district home opener, and the team is calling on the student body to bring the energy. The game will feature a Noah’s Ark–themed student section night, and students are encouraged to pack the stands and create a loud home-court atmosphere.
Tipoff is set for Friday night as the Cougars look to build momentum and continue their strong district run.
