Cross Country Excels at Mike Darby Invitational

  The Grace Cross Country team posted another strong showing at the Mike Darby Invitational.  The Grace Boys team finished in sixth place in a 1A-4A field of 21 teams and 170 runners.  The girls team stepped up to the large school 5A-6A division and ran 5000 meters (3.1 miles) and took second place in the field of 7 schools and 52 runners.  

The boys were again led by Grayson Gaddis in scoring at 4th place (17:24.3), followed by brothers Drew Gaddis (17:55.4) and Roe Gaddis (19:14.7) in 8th and 29th places, big improvements in their times.  Finishing the scoring for the team were Grant Gilmore and with seasonal best performances Austin Callen, Zach Callen, Elias Nix and DJ Raborar   This week’s newcomer was Manny Mercado-Cotto running a strong first race.  

The girls team was again led by Abby Metgzer winner of the large school 5000 meter race with a time of 18:59.00.  Rounding out the scoring for Grace with very strong performances were Kayla Minick (3rd), Lauryn Dunn (8th), Ela Keeling (18th) (first race back from injury), and Whitney Callen (19th).  .  The girls continue to look forward to the return of team members Maggie Jenz and Maddie Keeling within the next two weeks as this will make the team stronger. 

This week the team travels to Waxahachie  for the Mustang Stampede Invitational.
