Cross Country Team Off to a Great Start

Cross Country teams had a strong showing at the Hallsville Invitational! The Girls’ team, though still short of the five required runners to score as a team, had a remarkable showing.  Abby Metzger (12) finished in 1st Place, breaking her own course record from last year. Abby was followed by Kayla Minick (10) in 4th Place, a minute faster than her time last year. Lauryn Dunn (10) in 10th place. Grace’s fourth runner of the day was Whitney Callen (9), competing in her first ever cross country race and finishing a full minute and 40 places ahead of our #6 runner from a year ago.

The Boys team, lead by Grayson and Drew Gaddis, finished in fifth place in a field of 14 teams in this meet.  Individually, Grayson finished 2nd and Drew 7th , both improving on their times from last year.  Grant Gilmore, Roe Gaddis, and Austin Callen rounded out the teams five scoring runners with newcomer Zach Callen, DJ Raborar and Elias Nix.  Of the seven runners (boys and girls) who participated at this meet last year, five showed significant improvement in times.  The next meet for Grace Cross Country is this Friday, September 16th at the Mike Darby Invitational in Longview.
