Excellent Showing by GCS Cross Country Teams at Tyler Legacy Invitational

The Cougar and Lady Cougar Cross Country team mixed it up with some of the best private and public programs in East Texas this last weekend at the Tyler Legacy XC Invitational. The boys team finished 5th out of 22 schools. Leading the charge was Monroe “Roe” Gaddis with a time of 17:23 and placing 4th overall. He was quickly followed by teammate Clayton Boch finishing as the 19th scored athlete and running a personal best of 19:04 in the 5k. Each of the following Cougar runners ran Personal Best times contributing to the tremendous team finish and exciting opener to the season.

The girls team finished 2nd overall out of 17 teams, led by defending champion and meet record holder Emma Goetz. Emma finished in 11:49 for the two mile, improving her meet record and winning by over 20 seconds. She was quickly followed by freshman and younger sister Casey Goetz, finishing in 6th overall with a 13:23. Rounding out our top 20 performers on the girls side was newcomer Addison Mathews with a 19th overall finish time of 14:47. 

We look to continue our season at the Whitehouse Willie Wildcat Classic Aug 31st starting at 7:00 a.m.!
