Fast Times and Team Spirit Highlight JH Swimmers at St. Nicholas Sprint Meet

December 8, 2025 – This past weekend, the Tyler Grace Community Junior High Cougars faced a fast and highly competitive field at the St. Nicholas Sprint Meet at SMU, competing against 17 North Dallas teams, many significantly larger than ours. True to Cougar spirit, our swimmers rose to the challenge with grit, joy, and teamwork, finishing 4th place overall!

Every athlete dropped time in their events—a clear sign of dedication and growth. Beyond the time drops, the team displayed sportsmanship, courage, and Christ-like character, earning pride not just in performance but in teamwork and character.


Girls Team Highlights

The girls had an outstanding day, led by top point earners:

  • Hannah Jenks – 27 points
  • Lydia Martinez – 28 points
  • Elizabeth Russell – 21 points

These athletes powered the girls’ scoring with strong relay performances, fast splits, and excellent stroke work throughout the meet. Lydia advanced to the 50 Free Semifinals Shootout, showcasing speed and composure, while Elizabeth made it to the 50 Free Quarterfinals Shootout.

Other notable contributions:

  • Audrey Stephenson earned points in both the medley relay and the 50-yard backstroke, anchoring the team’s competitive edge.
  • Isabella Martin helped secure a top finish in the 200 freestyle relay.
  • Ona Foreman, in only her second meet, improved her times and racing instincts, showing great growth potential.
  • Larkin Meads demonstrated excellent sportsmanship by stepping in to fill a relay spot for another team in need.

  • 200 Free Relay – 3rd Place (Jenks, Russell, Martin, Martinez)

  • Ona Foreman (7): 16th – 50 Back, 33rd – 50 Breast
  • Hannah Jenks (7): 5th – 100 IM, 6th – 50 Breast
  • Lydia Martinez (8): 7th – 50 Free Shootout Semifinals, 3rd – 50 Fly
  • Isabella Martin (8): 17th – 50 Back
  • Larkin Meads (7): 47th – 50 Free Shootout, 24th – 50 Back
  • Elizabeth Russell (7): 11th – 50 Free Shootout Quarterfinals, 7th – 50 Back
  • Audrey Stephenson (7): 21st – 50 Free Shootout Prelims, 5th – 50 Back

Boys Team Highlights

The boys delivered one of their strongest meets of the season, led by:

  • Christopher Allgaier – 35 points
  • Ben Castle – 20 points

Noah Newton advanced to the 50 Free Quarterfinals Shootout and anchored the boys’ relays with strong finishes. Carson Dickson, competing in his first meet of the season, dropped time and contributed significantly to three boys’ relays. William Martin overcame pre-race nerves, competed with courage, and stepped in to help another team, showing sportsmanship that embodies the values of Grace.

  • 200 Free Relay – 2nd Place (Allgaier, Castle, Dickson, Newton)
