Five Games for HS Boys Soccer

Last week was a busy one with 5 games played.

At All Saints on Monday 11/27, the Cougars won 4-0. Senior forward Daniel Kucheruk scored the first two goals. He was assisted by senior forward Conner Emery and freshman forward Josiah King. Junior midfielder Logan Trump scored the third goal of the game as senior forward Carter Eli assisted him The last and fourth goal was scored by junior forward Jay Bang as Josiah King picked up his second assist of the game. Notable performances went to senior midfielder Jacob Carpenter, junior defender Haden Flowers, and sophomore midfielder McGuire O’Briant. Junior goalkeeper Jake Jones had seven saves and picked up his first clean sheet of the non-district campaign.

Hosting our Winter Classic Tournament, the Cougars were looking forward to a challenge.

On Thursday 11/30, the game ended up tied 0-0 playing versus Concordia. The game went to penalty kicks and the Cougars won 5-4. Goals were scored by junior midfielder Carter Eitel, senior midfielder Daniel Kucheruk, senior forward Carter Eli, junior defender Andres Casillas, and senior forward Conner Emery. The last pk for Concordia was saved by junior goalkeeper Jake Jones to win the shootout. Jones also had 7 saves in the game. Notable performances went to freshman defender Andrew Gardner and senior defender Jacob Carpenter.

On Friday 12/1, the boys had two games. The first one versus Lutheran South ended in a 3-3 tie. Goals were scored by Conner Emery, Logan Trump, and Andres Casillas. Daniel Kucheruk had two assists and Conner Emery had one assist. Jake Jones came up big with 10 saves in the game. Notable performances went to junior midfielder Matthew Hunsinger, freshman defender Andrew Gardner, and freshman midfielder Logan Levels..

On the second versus 2nd Baptist, the Cougars came out with 1-0 win! The lone goal was scored by Conner Emery and he was assisted by freshman forward Josiah King. Notable performances went to Carter Eli and Carter Eitel. Jake Jones came out with 9 saves in the game and a clean sheet.

The last game on Saturday 12/2 versus TheHighlands ended in a 3-0 win. Senior forward Conner Emery scored two goals and freshman forward Josiah King scored one goal. Assists were credited to junior midfielder Logan Trump and Josiah King. Jake Jones had 7 saves and his second shutout game of the weekend. Notable performances off the bench went to junior forward David Torres, sophomore defender Maguire O’Briant, junior defender Calvin Pierce, and junior forward Jay Bang.

The Cougars improve their non-district record at (5-0-2) (0-0)

Next week, the team travels down to South Houston to compete in the Lutheran South Soccer Tournament. This is their schedule:
