Girls Win 4th Straight District Championship
The Grace Girls Cross Country team wins their fourth consecutive District Championship. Led by Senior Abby Metzger winning her third consecutive individual championship, the girls put six finishers in the top twelve places. Whitney Callen (12th ), and Ela Keeling (11th ) were the top two members of this year’s Second Team All-District squad. Lauryn Dunn (8 th ), Maggie Jenz (7th ), Kayla Minick (2nd ) along with Abby (1st) are all First Team All-District for the 2022 season. Emerson Evans also ran a very strong race to finish the girls team. This allowed the girls to easily walk away with top honors in the six team TAPPS 5A-District 2 Championships.
The Grace Boys Cross Country team made their third consecutive appearance as the second place team in district. Roe Gaddis (10 th ) and Grant Gilmore (14 th ) both garnered Second Team All-District positions. while Drew Gaddis (5 th ) and Grayson Gaddis (2 nd ) took First team All- District honors. The boys also had Austin Callens, Zach Callens Elias Nix contributing to the team scoring. In Junior Varsity action DJ Raborar medaled in 5th place followed closely by Manny Mercado.
The TAPPS State Cross Country Championships is next for the teams and will be held at
Cottonwood Golf Course in Waco on Monday, October 31.
