Grace Community Swimmers Shine at Third Meet of the Season

September 22, 2025 – The Grace Community School Swim Team competed in its third meet of the season on Thursday at the Tyler ISD Aquatic Center. Participating teams included Tyler Legacy, Longview High School, King’s Academy, and Arp High School.

Grace swimmers continued to demonstrate steady early-season progress, achieving 17 personal best times out of 33 total swims. Coaches credited the team’s improvement to their commitment and hard work in practice, which is translating into faster races and more competitive performances in the pool.

One of the highlights of the meet came from sophomore Georgia Atkinson, who posted significant time drops in both of her individual events, showing exceptional focus and perseverance.

Senior captain Mollie Mathis, in her first meet back after recovering from surgery, made an impressive return by placing second in the 50 freestyle. She also competed in the 500 freestyle against the reigning 6A UIL State Champion, showcasing both her resilience and leadership.

On the boys’ side, juniors Mateo Agudelo, Will Means, Daniel Minick, and freshman Isaac Stephenson led the way with strong performances, achieving season-best times in all of their individual events. Their energy and consistency continue to set a positive tone for the team’s overall performance.

With three meets now behind them, Grace swimmers are gaining confidence, racing with intensity, and supporting one another both in and out of the water. The team looks forward to carrying this momentum into their next competition on October 4, a home meet at East Texas Aquatics. High school events will begin at 9:30 a.m., and middle school swimmers will compete starting at 2:15 p.m. Cougar fans are encouraged to come out and support these hardworking athletes!
