Grace Cougar Football Celebrates Homecoming With A Win
The Grace Cougar football team celebrated Homecoming Friday night with a huge win over Grapevine Faith. The game was back and forth in the first half, but the second half was an entirely different story. The Cougars dominated on offense and defense after the break, and eventually broke the will of the Lions. The final score was 61-35.
Leading the way on offense was Grant Turner, who rushed for 209 yards and 6 TD’s! Quarterback Zach Davis was 11/18 for 139 yards and 2 TD. Aden Hecht was on the receiving end of both of those TD’s, garnering 55 yards in the process. JT Williams, Konnor McCoy, Lawson Livingston, Ryder Welch and Grant Turner also had receptions.
The Cougars were stifling on defense, especially in the second half. Blake Harmon led the team in tackles (10), followed by Dylan Taylor and Grant Faulkner (8). Lawson Livingston had an interception in addition to his 5 solo tackles. The defense combined for 4 sacks, 4 deflections, and 6 hurries.
The Cougars will be back on the road this week for their next District matchup. They will look to keep playing tough and strong against Coram Deo. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
