Grace JH Football Team Edges Out Bishop Gorman 12–10 in Defensive Thriller

October 13, 2025 – In a gritty showdown Tuesday night, the Grace Cougar junior high football team pulled off a hard-fought 12–10 victory over the Bishop Gorman Crusaders, fueled by clutch plays on both sides of the ball and timely execution from quarterback Sam Moore.
The Cougars’ offense found rhythm early behind Moore’s steady hand. The eighth grade quarterback connected with Skylar McGee for a 34-yard touchdown strike in the first half, putting Grace on the board after a back-and-forth opening quarter. McGee finished with 2 catches for 60 yards and a touchdown, providing a crucial spark whenever the Cougars needed a big play.
Moore’s top target on the night, Elias McQuay, consistently stretched the field and moved the chains, hauling in 3 receptions for 70 yards. His ability to find soft spots in the Crusaders’ secondary kept key drives alive and set up scoring opportunities.
In the second half, the Cougars leaned on their ground game. Josh Anderson powered through the middle for a rushing touchdown, giving Grace the lead late in the third quarter. From there, the Cougar defense took control—stifling Bishop Gorman’s final drive and forcing a turnover on downs in the closing minute to seal the win.
