Grace Middle School Boys Soccer Opens Season With 7-0 Win Over Tyler Heat

December 15, 2025 – The Grace Middle School boys soccer team took to the field for the first time this season, hosting the Tyler Heat.  Excited to build on what was a successful year in 2024, the roster, led by captains Lincoln Shutt, Kyler Switzer and Isaac Jenks were ready to rumble.  The offense was powered by the trio, jumping out to an early 2-0 lead within minutes of the first whistle.  The Cougars stayed on the attack throughout the match, putting pressure on the visitors, using their athleticism and soccer prowess to dice up the opposition.  Scoring on headers, through-balls and outside shots, the game was quickly put out-of-reach as the Cougars closed the books with a final of 7-0.  Kyler and Isaac both netted hat tricks, while Lincoln led the team in assists (4) followed by one goal.  The defense, led by Ben Castle, Oliver Gibson and Jase France, held their line.  The goalie position was split between Jackson Bonneville and Bryson Morrison.  Whenever the opposing offense would find a seam, it was quickly closed by the tenacity and hustle of the Cougars.  Coach Reid Tamplin appears to be Santa in street clothes, as he and his staff have delivered us an early holiday present: a competent and well-balanced squad in short order.  After their performance on Tuesday, this team deserves not only a pat on the back, but a plate of warm cookies and iced-down milk.

Stay jolly Cougar fans, Merry Christmas.
