Grace Middle School Girls Basketball Teams Dominate With Strong Performances

December 1, 2025 – The Grace 7th and 8th grade girls’ basketball teams each had a busy and successful week prior to the Thanksgiving break, showcasing teamwork, skill, and determination on the road and in tournaments.
The 8th grade girls opened the week with a 34–23 victory over Kings Academy. Continuous pressure defense wore down the Lady Cougars’ opponents, allowing Grace to outscore Kings 24–12 in the second half. Pippa Burton led the scoring, followed by Riley Morgan with 12 and 10 points, respectively. Kaizlyen Kincade, Nora Myrick, and Claire Weimer each contributed four points.
On Saturday, the 8th grade girls traveled to Brownsboro for a round-robin tournament. After one team dropped out, Grace faced two different Brownsboro squads. Despite close losses in both games (22–17 and 28–25), the Lady Cougars competed strongly. Scoring in the first game included Burton with 5, Myrick with 4, and Kincade, Morgan, and Robinson with 2 points each. In the second game, Burton and Morgan each netted 10 points, with Myrick adding 5.
The 7th grade girls enjoyed a perfect week, going 4–0 on the road. On Monday, they defeated All Saints 35–4 in a strong team performance. Stella Ramirez led with 10 points, Emma Hird and Rilee Hamer each scored 6, followed by Ellie Gillen with 5, and Hannah Jenks and Kathrine Proctor rounding out the scoring with 4 points each.
Thursday brought a matchup against Longview Christian, where Grace overcame early struggles to pull away in the second half for a 27–12 victory. The team made five three-pointers, led by Kathrine Proctor with 12 points, Rilee Hamer with 6, Hannah Jenks with 4, Ellie Gillen with 3, and Emma Hird with 2.
On Saturday, the 7th grade girls participated in the Brownsboro tournament and emerged as tournament champions. Their first game against Brownsboro was a physical contest, but Grace prevailed 32–22, led by Stella Ramirez with 13 points, Ellie Gillen with 6, Emma Hird with 5, Riley Hamer with 4, and Hannah Jenks and Kathrine Proctor with 2 points each. In the second game against Arp, Grace won 28–15, led by Rilee Hamer with 6 points, Hannah Jenks and Emma Hird with 5 each, Ellie Gillen and Kathrine Proctor with 4 points each, and Katie Thomas and Stella Ramirez with 2 points each.
Both teams demonstrated skill, resilience, and teamwork this week, setting a strong tone for the remainder of the season.
