Grace Softball Off to a Busy Start

Grace Community Softball had a busy week this week!!! Home game Tuesday vs Bishop Gorman where the girls picked up a solid win before heading to Athens for a tournament Thursday- Saturday where the girls played 5 games over 3 days. The girls also picked up a game in Big Sandy Friday night to make it 7 games total for the week. Cougar Softball ended up with a 5-2 record for the week with all the girls playing big roles in every game. Sophomore Sadie Arriola finished the week with 8 RBIs on 8 hits and scored 10 runs. Arriola had 2 home runs over the week 1 being a grand slam. Junior Isabel Buchanan added 8 RBIs of her own while adding another home run to her season total. Senior Rylan Lafaitt, Junior Macie Mathis, Junior Kat Neal, and Sophomore Ryder Dunnam also contributed in a big way collecting multiple hits over the week. Sisters Bianca and McKenzie Wulf got the bats going in crucial times to add to the cougars offensive success. Sophomore Malayna Cauley and Kat Neal toed the rubber this past weekend and pitched their team to the win column adding 24 total strikeouts and only allowing 3 walks over 25 innings of work between the pair. Junior rookie Emma Kinney traded in her pom-poms for a glove this week and also got a chance to contribute, adding an RBI on 1 hit while hitting for a .500 average. The Lady Cougars look to get a break this coming weekend as the girls attend Go Week but will get back to work over spring break to prepare for the upcoming district game. Big shout out to our track girls Neal and Arriola for finding the time in between softball games to participate in the track meet and place in their throwing events. It’s a great time to be a Cougar!!! Let’s Go Cougars!!!
