High School Track Teams Competes in TAPPS District 2 Track Meet 

The High School Track Teams competed in the TAPPS District 2 Track Meet this past Thursday. The girl’s and boy’s teams were crowned District Champions for the 7th and 6th year in a row. The top three athletes in each event also will be going to the North Region Championships on Thursday April 25 at UT Arlington. The Lady Cougars had the following medalist. Winning gold and district champion in that event were Emma Goetz in the 3200 & 1600m run, Addie Matthews in the 100m hurdles, Sadie Ariola in the shot put, Kat Neal in the discus, Keely Bozeman in the high jump, Maddie Keeling in the pole vault, Maya Gilmore in the triple jump, The 4 x 200m relay of Maya Gilmore, Maddie Keeling, Keely Bozeman, and Addison Eli and the in the 4 x 400m relay of Maddie Keeling, Maya Gilmore, Keely Bozeman and Addison Eli. Winning silver were Brooklyn Gautier in the pole vault, Addie Matthews in the long jump and 300m hurdles, Sadie Ariola in the discus, Kat Neal in the discus, Macy Loftis in the 100m hurdles, Maggie Jenz in the 3200m run, Lauryn Dunn in the 800 and 1600m run, and the 4 x 100m relay of Maya Gilmore, Maddie Keeling, Aubrey Felton and Addison Eli. Winning Bronze were Kayla Minick in the 800m run, Whitney Callens in the 3200m run, Aubrey Felton in the long jump, and Avery Blalock in the pole vault.The Cougars had the following medalists. Winning gold and district champions in that event were Aden Hecht in the 110m & 300m Hurdles and Seth Wilson in the shot put & discus. Peyton Kelly in the 400m dash & triple jump, Monroe Gaddis in the 3200m run, Doak Porter and Jeff Torres in the high jump, Peyton Kelly in the 400m dash and triple jump, Ayle Hecht in the pole vault, the 4 x 200m relay of Ryder Welch, Simeon Hudson, Justus McQuay and Sam Brown and the 4x400m relay of Aden Hecht, Caden Swaim, Peyton Kelly and Cole Edens. Winning silver were Peyton Kelly in the long jump, Doak Porter in the 110m hurdles, Dayne Edens in the 800m run, and Monroe Gaddis in the 1600m run. Winning bronze were Sam Brown in the 200m dash, Clayton Bock in the 800m run, Caden Swaim in the 110m hurdles, Austin Alexander in the discus, Dayne Edens in the high jump, and Jack Crawford in the triple jump. Contributing points to their teams with 4th – 6th place finishes were: Aubrey Felton 100m & 200m dash, Maggie Jenz 1600m run, Kayla Minick 400m run, Macy Loftis 300m hurdles and Randi Huddleston discus. Simeon Hudson 100m dash, William Butts 100m & 400m dash, Justus McQuay 200m dash, Cole Edens 400m dash, Chris Alexander 1600m & 3200m run, Caden Swaim 300m hurdles, Dylan Taylor shot put, Luke Anderson shot put, Ryder Welch long jump and Dayne Edens triple jump.
