HS Swimmers Looking Good at Pre-Regional Invitational
This past Saturday, 220 swimmers representing 28 schools from Midland to Tyler and all over the Metroplex gathered for the last Invitational Swim Meet before Regionals. The 12 Grace swimmers had a very successful meet bringing home quite a few top five finishes. The meet was not split out into Divisions, so Divisions I, II, and III competed all together. Team scores were not calculated at the end of the meet so we do not know where we placed as a team, but feel we were in the top 3 in our Division. It was a very good meeting to start the new year and prepare for the upcoming Championship meets.
Our girl’s team was led by sophomore Mollie Mathis with a 1st place finish in the 100-yard freestyle and a 2nd place finish in the 50 freestyle. The boy’s team was led by Leonardo Rubio with a 2nd place finish in the 100 Butterfly and a 5th place finish in the 200 Freestyle. All the relays looked fantastic dropping significant time. The next Cougar swim meet will be the Regional competition on February 2nd in Mansfield beginning at 10:00 am.
