JH Cross Country Impresses at Mike Darby Invitational

The Grace JH Cross Country team traveled to Longview this past Saturday to compete in the Pine Tree Mike Darby Invitational.  The race took place at the Pine Tree Football Stadium complex. The course was a little longer than a normal 2 mile course and our times reflected that distance – it was an unusual course with some interesting zig-zags. But our athletes competed well.

The girls ran the first race. There were 21 teams and 279 girls.  Overall, our girls team finished in 7th place. What a great group!!  Individually – 8th grader Emma Goetz finished in first place. She won the race by over a minute and 16 seconds. Addison Mathews (8th) finished in 7th place with 7th grader Casey Goetz finishing 17th.  Our next two finishers were Kora Rucker (7th) and Audrey Kirby (7th).  Rounding out our runners in order: Hazel Finley (7); McKenna Camp (6); Zoe Coates (6); Adi Beverly (6); Deborah Mercado-Cotto (7); Molly Cannon (7) and Juliet Montier (6). Great job girls!!

The boys finished the race day. There were 24 teams and 319 runners.  8th grader Chris Alexander finished in 7th place. What a great accomplishment – way to go Chris!!  Rounding out our top 5 finishers were Dayne Edens (8); Christian Henry (8); Gabriel Adams (7); and Sam Jenz (8).  Our other runners in order: Truett Roseman (8); Zayden Coates (8); Clive Johnson (7); Ayden Serrato (7); Carter Zimmerman (7) and Dylan Small (8). Proud of you guys!!

The JH Cougars next meet will be this coming Saturday in Lone Oak!!
