Junior High Cougars Boys Basketball Teams Off to Strong Start

7th Grade:
The 7th-grade Cougars started the season with a thrilling 2-point win in a nail-biter, setting the tone for what has become an exciting first few weeks. Entering a tournament in Gladewater, the team learned a lot about their strengths and areas for growth while steadily building momentum. In their most recent game, the Cougars overcame a 5-point halftime deficit with a 23-point run led by Case Cook, Wesley Weiner, and Josiah Goodman. The team’s resilience and teamwork have been impressive, and fans are encouraged to come out and support the 7th-grade Cougar basketball squad in upcoming games.

8th Grade:
The 8th-grade Cougars opened the season with five games during the first week of play. After early setbacks in their first two games, the team rebounded to capture 3rd place in the Gladewater Tournament. They earned a hard-fought win over Sabine before suffering a tough loss to Pittsburg. In the tournament, the Cougars came back strong, defeating Carlisle to secure the 3rd-place finish.

This week, the team demonstrated their grit once again, coming back from a 14-point second-half deficit to beat the East Texas Home School 44–40. They narrowly fell 40–41 to the Tyler Heat to close out the week. The coaching staff and fans alike are proud of this hardworking group of young men, who continue to rise to the challenges of an extremely tough schedule. With their determination and teamwork, there is no backing down with this Cougar squad.
