JV Teams End Season on a High Note
| Congratulations to our JV Basketball teams who ended their season on a high note with victories over Grapevine Faith last week. The JV Blue played one of their best overall games by defeating the Lions 88 – 60. The 88 points was a season high and gave us a glimpse into the potential of Cougars Basketball. The JV White showed true grit and determination in their 55-50 come from behind victory. The JV Blue ended their season with a 17-9 overall and 6-2 district record. The JV White finished with a 8-8 record. Both teams constant growth and development throughout the season has everyone excited about the future of Cougars Basketball. Special thanks to Coach Barker and Coach Wallace for their leadership of our JV teams. The varsity started the week with a 74-23 win over King’s Academy and ended with a disappointing loss to Grapevine Faith. On Tuesday, the entire team played a role in the victory over King’s Academy. Will Bozeman, Cade Covington, and Darius Shankle all reached double figures for the Cougars who had 10 players score in the contest. On Friday, the Cougars fell behind early and never could recover in their loss for the Lions. Darius and Daniel Shankle led Grace in scoring and Jared Hosch did an excellent job on defense. The Cougars will celebrate and honor the Class of 2023 on Tuesday in their final home game of the season. Reed Alexander, Will Bozeman, Cade Covington, Kole Crawford, Drew Gaddis, Grayson Gaddis, and Darius Shankle have done an excellent job of changing the culture of Cougars Basketball this season. Leading our team to a 23-12 record and a spot in the TAPPS 5A playoffs. We hope that everyone in the GCS family will come out and show their love and support of these young men, who have laid a solid foundation for the future success of Cougars Basketball. Tipoff for the girls game on Tuesday will be 6:00, the Senior Night Ceremony will take place between the girls and boys games, and the boys will tip-off at 7:30. We hope to see everyone in the stands on Tuesday! |
