Lady Cougars 7th-Grade Basketball Team Wins 5 Straight, Remains Unbeaten at 19-0
January 19, 2025 – The Grace 7th-grade girls basketball team had a busy and successful week, running their season record to 19-0 with five victories.
The week started Monday with a dominant 45-5 road win at Brook Hill. Every player except two contributed to the scoring, led by Stella Ramirez with 11 points. Kathrine Proctor added eight, Ellie Gillen had seven, and Hannah Jenks, Summer Schultz and Cora Putman each scored four. Elizabeth Russell, Rylee Hamer and Emma Hird contributed two points each, and Annakate Negem added one.
Thursday, the Lady Cougars traveled to All Saints and again played strong offense and defense, winning 32-10. Proctor led with 12 points, followed by Jenks with eight, Ramirez and Gillen with four each, and Russell and Negem with two apiece.
Saturday, the team competed in the Palestine Wildcats Junior High Tournament. They opened with a close 26-18 win over Pollok Central, led by Proctor with nine points, Ramirez with seven, and Gillen with six. Jenks and Claire Foreman each added two points.
In the second game, the Lady Cougars defeated LAE from Dallas 30-10. Ramirez led with 11 points, Proctor added seven, Foreman and Gillen scored three each, and Hird added two.
The team closed the tournament with a 27-17 victory over Rusk JH in a physical matchup. Proctor led with six points, while Jenks, Hamer and Ramirez each scored four. Russell added three, and Foreman, Gillen and Hird each contributed two points.
The Lady Cougars will return to the court Thursday at home against Murchison at 4:00 p.m.
