Lady Cougars Back in Action

The Lady Cougars are back in action seeking to build off of their trip to the final four last season. The varsity team started their season strong last week with two wins over Kemp and Big Sandy and a strong showing in a loss against a talented Canton team.

Monday the Cougars lost 53-29 to Canton. Paige Gilmore led the Cougars with 12 points and 6 rebounds. Lucy Loftis finished with six points. On Tuesday the Cougars traveled to Kemp for a 43-19 win. Kat Neal led the team with 11 points, and Paige Gilmore added 10 points with 6 steals. Hannah Stout and Harper Auringer scored 7 and 6 respectively. Friday the team hosted Big Sandy here at Taylor Gym. Strong defense forced 38 turnovers that led to easy baskets for the Cougars. Kalynn Giffin’s perfect four-for-four shooting night with 10 points led a balanced scoring night for the team. Other scorers included: Paige Gilmore 12, Hannah Stout 11, Kat Neal 8, Macie Mathis 6, Lucy Loftis 6, Macy Loftis 4, Kate Glenney 3, Olivia Clark 2, Harper Auringer 2.

This week the Cougars host Pine Tree and head to a tournament at TK Gorman.

The JV team went 1-2 against Canton, Kemp, and Big Sandy. Lilly Kennedy has led the team in scoring each game averaging 10 points with several assists coming from point guard Macy Loftis. Rebecca Dai scored 9 against Kemp and hit two three-point field goals against Big Sandy. The JV is off this week, but will pick up after Thanksgiving break.
