Lady Cougars Claim Regional Title; Boys Finish Second at TAPPS North Regional Swim Meet

February 2, 2026 – The Grace Community swim team turned in an outstanding showing Friday at the TAPPS North Regional Swimming Championships, held at the Debbie Weems Natatorium in Mansfield.

Competing against 52 schools and nearly 350 swimmers, the Lady Cougars captured the regional team championship, while the Grace Community boys earned a strong second-place finish. The results highlighted the depth, consistency and determination of the Cougars across all events.

Grace’s performance was especially impressive given the circumstances. Despite losing a full week of practice leading into the meet, nearly 90% of the team posted season-best or personal-best times, a testament to the swimmers’ preparation and mental toughness.

Two relay teams earned first-place finishes to headline the meet. The Girls 200 Medley Relay and the Boys 200 Freestyle Relay each claimed regional titles. In individual competition, Mollie Mathis delivered a standout performance, winning the Girls 200 Freestyle and finishing second in the 100 Freestyle.

With regionals complete, the Cougars now turn their attention to the TAPPS State Swimming Championships, scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 10, at the Josh Davis Natatorium in San Antonio. The meet will begin at 10 a.m., with Grace Community looking to carry its momentum onto the state stage.
