Lady Cougars Defeat Tigers
The Grace 7th and 8th grade Girls Basketball teams travelled to Arp to start out the New Year. The 7th grade girls played a very fast and talented Arp team and lost 33-11. Though the score shows a blow-out, the girls played hard and we saw some good things (especially in the 2nd half). It was a physical game but the girls kept fighting hard. Good job 7th grade. Casey Goetz led the way with 4 points while Rylee Phillips, Hazel Finley and Molly Cannon each scored 2 and Eva King had 1 point.
The 8th grade girls came out on fire and played well the entire game. We defeated Arp 39-18 in a dominant fashion. Macy Loftis led all scorers with 18 points. All but one of our girls scored – Lilly Kennedy had 6, Rylee Phillips had 5, Avery Blalock finished with 4 points. Rebecca Dai, Rowyn Parish, and Marley Parrish each had 2 points to round out the scoring.
The girls will have a busy week this week. They play Tyler Heat tonight at Grace (7th at 4:00pm and 8th at 6:00pm). On Thursday, they travel to Frankston. There will be a 7th B – starting at 5:00pm; 7th A and 8th grade game to follow immediately after the other. Then, both teams will travel to Kemp for a Saturday tournament. Go Lady Cougars!!!
